Open Enrollment (OE) Trip Calendar

Anyone can sign-up for our open enrollment trips, regardless of your background or ability level.  We organize the activity and date, you sign-up and have fun!  Transportation, gear, equipment and trained staff are all included in the price for our OE trips.

Open enrollment trips generally run around $60 per person, and multi-day trips average about $80 to $100 per day, which includes meals, camping, all gear and instruction.  Scholarships are available.

    Scappoose Bay is home to one of the last functioning, tidally influenced bays remaining in the United States.  It has not been diked or filled in.  This area is rich with Oregon Ash and Black Cottonwood forests, wetlands filled with Wapato, and Bulrush.  Tundra Swans and Canadian Geese also over-winter here. Located on the Pacific Flyway, it is home to many neo-tropic birds.

    Come with us on this amazing 7 day, 6 night beginners backpacking adventure in the Rogue-Umpqua Wilderness Divide.  Starting at the Fish Lake Trailhead, this loop route will pass by three high mountain wilderness lakes, including one of the largest, and deepest lakes in Oregon.  We'll pass by a beaver swamp, see high mountain meadow flowers, large rock walls and have outstanding views.  All the meals, gear, transportation, instruction and guide are included.

    This wild and scenic rafting trip will take us down crystal clear blue water that playfully meanders down the Cascade Range.  We'll also spend one day rock climbing at Flagstone, where you'll have chance to learn the basics of climbing, or improve on current skills.  One of the best all-around rafting rivers in Oregon, the Mckenzie River runs through canyons bordered by old growth forest.  We'll stay overnight on the banks of the river, and share a camp cooked meal and sleep under the stars.  Doesn't get any better than this!

    The Salmon River estuary is located on the Oregon coast at Otis just north of Lincoln City and just south of Cascade Head Natural Area.     Stay overnight in a yurt on this fun, 2-day excursion to the Oregon Coast.  Kayak 2 to 3 miles in the Beaver Creek Natural Area and look for river otters, beavers, birds, and other wildlife from the waterways as opposed to the trails.  From the campground, walk through sand dunes and hike down to the beach to see tide pools teeming with life.   Explore Newport, see the lighthouse, and play horseshoes at the campground!

    Caves and fall colors!  Follow us underground as we head into the depth of an ancient lava tube near Mount St. Helens.     Paddle with us as we go down the Tualatin River river trail, and see osprey, blue herons, eagles, green herons and lots of other wildlife for your viewing pleasure.  This a great beginner paddle, with smooth water and little current.   This will be a great opportunity to work on your technique and learn how to read the river.

General Information

Cost:

Single day trips are priced at $60. Multiple Day trips average about $80-$100 per day which includes transportation, meals, camping, all gear and instruction. To secure a spot on our open enrollment trips we require a 50% deposit. Scholarships are available. 

Registration:

To register for an activity call AWL's office phone at 503-359-2568.  Also, you can register online here.

Upon registering you will receive a confirmation e-mail including program registration and liability forms to fill out. Your registration is confirmed upon receipt of payment.

An agenda and equipment list will be sent out to you one week prior to the trip. 

Cancellation or Refund Policy:

Open Enrollment Trips:  If you need to cancel your spot on a trip, you must do so 7 days before the date of the trip and have your cancellation confirmed by an Adventures Without Limits employee.  Due to investments in planning, staff, supplies and gear, cancellations within 7 days of your trip will result in a charge of 50% of the trip cost.  If AWL chooses to cancel a trip you will be given a full refund of your deposit.

Brokerage Customer Cancelation Policy:  Customers who sign up for an Open Enrollment trip are agreeing that they will be going on that trip. Invoices will be sent to the customer’s PA after they have gone on their trip. If a customer wishes to cancel their spot on the trip, they must do so at least 7 days before the trip date. If a customers paying with brokerage dollars cancels within 7 days of the trip date then they, not the brokerage, will be charged 50% of the trip cost. The customer’s PA will be notified of the cancelation.

Our Dedication to Safety:

Participant safety is our #1 priority. At least one leader on each trip is required to have advanced Wilderness First Aid, or Wilderness First Responder. Both staff and volunteers are required to have 1) a clean driving record authorized by the DMV, 2) a criminal history background check, 3) driver training which includes defensive driving instruction and 4) outdoor recreation skills. In addition primary trip leaders have extensive personal and professional experience in outdoor recreation, so you can be assured of a safe and rewarding adventure.

Scholarships:

We provide full and partial scholarships on all trips for those needing financial assistance. However, we can provide only so many per trip so call soon to receive a scholarship application and to reserve a spot on the trip you want!

Custom Designed Trips:

If any of the trips in the schedule do not meet your needs you can gather a group of friends, family, co-workers, etc., and we can coordinate a personalized adventure trip just for you. Choose from any of our activities and an extensive list of destinations!
